Would text like that above engage your students, you can type in up to 22 characters and either have a wizard or a ninja draw them.  The website generates html code that you could then drop in to a content editor webpart within Sharepoint, your blog or website. Michelle D’arcy Jewell and myself ran a successful Sharepoint course on Monday that covered a range of topics including CSS, embedding Flash Movies and Webplayers. There was a lot of interest in the webplayer (see image below) which lets users select a video from a scrolling list of thumbnails. Sharepoint allows schools to create and moderate their own blogs and it’s good to see some schools already doing so on the Shropshire Learning Gateway. To support teachers in setting up blogs in Sharepoint I have written a brief guide.

Many Learning Gateway users in Shropshire have asked to see a working model of a school’s site that they can use for guidance or inspiration. I have played around with the Virtual Secondary School and made it visible to all teachers. It is very much ‘work in progress’ and I will continue to experiment with the site and make further changes but hopefully it will help to show how Sharepoint can be adapted for your school. You will find the Virtual Secondary School at the bottom of the list of Secondary schools. If you wish to put some falling snow on your webpage, all you need to do is go to this site:http://www.hscripts.com/scripts/JavaScript/image-fall.php
The falling image they use is a leaf, you just need to create your own snowflake image and replace it and you have your own snowfall on your site. Make sure you do not remove the copyright information from the code.

If you want to add this to your SharePoint site, simply put the javacript file in your document folder along with the image, and then copy the url of the image into your javascript code file.  Then create a content editor webpart and copy the supplied code that refers to the javascript file into the source editor (making sure that you change the link to point to the document library where you have put the javascript code file) .
