FREE best practice events for users of all types of interactive whiteboards!
“How can the compass tool on your interactive whiteboard help your class to focus on adjectives?” intrigued? you will be!
Wait until you hear some of our other suggestions from our Teaching and Learning Advisors. All of our TLAs have themselves been teachers prior to joining Promethean, with subject experience ranging from Maths to Physical Education, primary and secondary level. Each of them are specialists in their own subject, but all of them can offer advice, training and knowledge to ensure you leave the event feeling more confident in your whiteboard abilities.
Regardless of what brand whiteboard you are using, and what subject areas you need support with, these free and local sessions will give you some inspiring ideas for the academic year ahead. What’s more, we’ll be giving away free trials of our award‐winning Activprimary software for you to try out.
To make sure that you’re really prepared for your new year, we’ll also be handing out free DVDs and magazine supplements with further ideas and suggestions for you to take away with you and share with your colleagues.
What are you waiting for? To find out when and where your nearest Love Your Whiteboard Roadshow is taking place and to reserve your place, simply visit www.prometheanplanet.com/loveyourwhiteboard

Dear Steve,
Today, we’ve launched a new collection of free online whiteboard resources. They are from our Absorb courseware, and offer a wide range of simulations, animations and models across secondary school science, D&T and mathematics.
You’ll find these resources at www.yenka.com/freecontent/
Teachers in your LEA can use them in schools and at home, and there’s no need to register - just search or browse for the content you want.

Do you have an Promethean ACTIVboard?
Are you a confident user of ACTIVprimary or ACTIVstudio?
Are you ready to move on to the next level of expertise?
If so, the ACTIVboard Level 2 Accreditation course is for you!
“Level 2 courses continue to develop your skills with the software. The main emphasis, however, is on good classroom practice. By successfully completing this course you will be awarded an Activstudio Curriculum Developer certificate. A teacher awarded this level of accreditation will have created outstanding flipcharts for use in their classroom and will also have shared their flipcharts and ideas with other teachers” - Promethean.
This course is usually delivered online, over six weeks at a cost of £195 per person. However, we have secured an expert Promethean trainer who will deliver the content face-to-face in one session. Participants will then need to submit some examples of their work to receive the accreditation (subject to quality control). The icing on the cake is that normal Shropshire course fees apply - £60 to subscribing schools and £75 to non-subscribing schools.
The session will be held on Friday 16 November 2007, 13.00 - 16.00 at the Shrewsbury Training & Development Centre. This opportunity is open to both primary and secondary colleagues.
Before attending the course, participants should have completed the Level 1 training, which is free (for a limited period) and should take about 45 minutes. This training can be accessed at http://prometheanlearning.com/uk
If you are interested in booking a place on this course, please contact Michelle Evans on (01743) 254494 or by email: michelle.evans@shropshire-cc.gov.uk. As there are only 10 places available on this course, please contact me as soon as possible.

If you downloaded SMART 9.5 and found that it appeared to no longer support .wav files along with a host of other sound and movie formats then help it at hand:
SMART has encoders available that will allow .wav files to be brought directly into Notebook but these have to be installed separately to avoid legal copyright issues. To enable this, please do the following:
1) Open SMART Notebook software.
2) Go to the Help, then use the Search feature, entering the term “video”.
3) A list of topics will appear and about 8 items down, find the topic ”Audio/Video Formats” and click on this.
4) Detailed information including a list of encoders that can be downloaded will be provided.
Audio/Video Formats Notebook supports .mp3 for audio formats and .flv for video formats.
If you would like Notebook to be able to support more file types, you need to install one or more of the encoders listed below. If you install additional encoders, Notebook will automatically detect them so that you can use the widest variety of audio and video files available.
