Using Clicker 5

We had a Clicker 5 course yesterday and I realised once again how useful it can be. One of the really useful features, especially for pupils with SEN, is the ability to associate a word with a picture – and you can easily set it up so that when a child types in his/her name, their own picture pops up with it. This means that words that children use a lot can be associated with photos of themselves or pictures they have drawn, making these meaningful.
To do this, first save the pictures you want to use in a folder, named appropriately.
Open up Clicker Writer, go to edit- edit mode and click on ‘pictures’ on the editing toolbar.
Click on the ’Instant Picture and Library Settings’ button and then ‘Register New Library’.
Choose ‘Create a permanent library’ – next -
Click on ‘Custom’ and name your library – next-
Browse to the folder you created with the pictures in – next-
Accept the identifier it offers you – next -
Ensure that both boxes are ticked in the Choose Library Options page – Finish
Now when you write in the name of the photo, the picture will appear in the Clicker Grid you are creating
