The Royal Albert Hall has an active and busy Learning & Participation department. In January this year, we released a brand new, free resource for secondary schools based around Functional Skills called Showtime.
Showtime explores the work of the Royal Albert Hall through English, Maths and ICT and demonstrates how the topics learned in the classroom are applied in the world of work, and specifically within the context of the Royal Albert Hall. It contains approximately 90 hours of teaching time, teachers’ notes, extension activities and worksheets. It can be used through an interactive whiteboard or networked around an IT suite so that students can work in small groups or individually.
Each activity or task is introduced by a member of the Hall’s staff and explores the different roles of people within the mounting of a production at the Hall.
Showtime is free to download and use and installation takes around 20-30 mins. It covers English, Maths & ICT with all the activities mapped to the new functional skills requirements.
We are also very interested in your feedback – both positive and negative, as we want to continue to be able to improve Showtime and add new functionality.
Showtime can be downloaded from:

I hope that you and your students will enjoy using Showtime and that we will be able to welcome you to the Hall sometime soon.
