On 9 February 2010, Safer Internet Day will focus on privacy with the slogan “Think before you post!” and the aim of helping people make informed choices regarding the disclosure of their private information. As in previous years, one of the major events of SID 2010 will be worldwide competitions for young people aged 5 to 18 years. The 5 to 11 year group will be asked to create a poster on this year’s theme whilst the 12 to 15 year olds will have to answer to quiz questions about their online activities and risk-handling strategies. Top scorers from both categories will win a special SID trophy and travel to a secret destination to receive their prize. As usual, hundreds of local, regional and national events are being organised in more than 60 countries across the world. Watch the Insafe network site atwww.saferinternet.org<http://www.saferinternet.org> for information updates.
Last week at an ICT Mark update Ruth Hammond showed a poster that Becta have produced entitled ‘Safeguarding children online. How e-safe are your school and learners?’
